Drew & Kinley | Winn Homestead Wedding | Walla Walla, WA

Drew and Kinley’s wedding is a perfect example of why we love northwest destination weddings. I am constantly amazed by the variety of beautiful places there are to visit in Washington. Drew and Kinley met while in school at Whitman College out in Walla Walla, WA, and they wanted to go back to this little town to celebrate their wedding together. This was actually the first time we had been to Walla Walla, which is surrounded by vineyards, wheat fields, and the Blue Mountains.

Upon arrival in our hotel, we were greeted by a welcome gift from Drew and Kinley, full of treats, visitor guides, and a bottle of wine. This thoughtful gift once again reminded us of just how caring and generous these two are. We had a fun pre-wedding day driving around the countryside, tasting wines at some of the best Northwest wineries, and scouting photo locations for Drew & Kinley’s big day. Their day arrived like most in South-eastern WA do–bright, sunny and warm. We headed out to Abeja Inn to photograph the first look, wedding party and family, and then headed out to Winn Homestead in Oregon for the ceremony and reception. Now, if you’re looking for a beautiful country wedding location, you don’t need to look any farther than Winn’s gorgeous grounds, re-purposed farm machinery, and historic red barn. That, combined with bold wedding bouquets, a baseball bat “guestbook,” homemade centerpieces (books and signs celebrating their favorites authors), and bookmark namecards, and it was a celebration one that was uniquely Drew and Kinley.

Kinley and Drew, we had a blast hanging out with you, your friends and your family and we loved photographing every second of your wedding. We hope you love your photos!

Kiki & Larry | Arctic Club Dome Room Wedding | Seattle, WA

There were so many memorable aspects of Kiki & Larry’s Seattle wedding day, but the one that I just can’t get out of my mind was the amazing pipe band, and the Scottish highland dancers leaping toward the ceiling in the Dome Room at the Arctic Club Hotel. I’ve seen plenty of dancers and pipers in my day, but nothing quite like this. Larry and Kiki actually met because they are both members of the Keith Highlanders Pipe Band (they placed 3rd in their division at the World Pipe Band Championships a few years ago), and Kiki is an instructor at the Bentzen School of Highland Dance.  They didn’t need to go out and hire random dancers and musicians to play their wedding, they just brought their friends–and they were incredible!

One of the meaningful aspects of their day, however, was how involved Kiki’s son Connor was throughout. Every time I turned around he was either reading a poem in the ceremony for Larry and Kiki, giving a toast, or performing a dance for everyone. He was just so excited, and it was really moving to see that Larry & Kiki were not simply joining in marriage, but they were uniting together as one family. Larry, Kiki, and Connor, we are so happy for you and thoroughly enjoyed sharing in your special day. ~Gerald & Airika

Our Anniversary

Eight years ago today, I married the love of my life, who also happens to be my best friend in the world. I feel so lucky to be able to work side by side with him as we capture the beginning of others’ love stories. His artistic passion and vision is inspiring, and the way that he loves and cares for me is beyond amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better man to share my time on earth with.

I love you, Gerald Pope, and look forward to many more happy years together.

Thanks to our friends Sean and Mel McLellan for these beautiful photos of Gerald and I. We love them!
